Flamengo loses to Botafogo in the Rio de Janeiro Basketball Championship
Olivinha was named MVP of the match with 25 points and seven rebounds.
By Romulo Paranhos - inOn Friday night (6), Flamengo entered the court for the second round of the Rio de Janeiro Basketball Championship and was defeated by Botafogo by 100 to 98, in a match held at General Severiano. The red-black power forward Olivinha scored 25 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, being elected the MVP of the match.
The game
In a fairly even start to the match, FlaBasquete fought for the lead point by point, with both teams alternating leads. With some good plays, Balbi was the highlight for Botafogo in the first half, scoring 12 points. The first half ended 46-44 in favor of Botafogo.
In the third quarter, the game remained tightly contested, with the black-and-white team performing well both defensively and offensively, maintaining the lead. In the final quarter, the "Mais Querido" (the "Most Beloved") reacted and went all-out, improving their shooting and closing in on the scoreboard. Even with the red-and-black team demonstrating a fight on the court and scoring 34 points in a single quarter, Botafogo emerged victorious: 100-98.
