In the quest for the fifth Super 8 Cup title, Flamengo ended up being defeated by Minas 93-80 this Tuesday (27), at Maracanãzinho, and ended its participation in the tournament's semi-final. With important absences, Rubro-Negro couldn't find its rhythm in the match and was defeated by the Minas team. Now, the team led by Sergio Hernández focuses its attention on the NBB competition, where it is the leader, and the Basketball Champions League Americas (BCLA). 

1st Bedroom

The game began with both teams making offensive errors and taking just over a minute to score. Minas was the first to open the scoring with a three-pointer. For Flamengo, Gui Deodato penetrated the paint and scored with a layup. Better at the start of the game, the Minas team pressured on defense, making it difficult for Flamengo to play and shoot. As a result, the opponent managed to have better offensive efficiency and opened up a lead. With a three-pointer from Gui and another from Shaq Johnson, Flamengo reacted and narrowed the difference. But Minas remained superior in the first quarter and closed the period with a 14-point lead: 27 to 13.

2st Bedroom

Trying to find their footing in the game, Flamengo hit a three-pointer with Gueiros early in the second quarter. On the court, Jhonatan Luz took responsibility, drove into the paint, made the shot, and drew a foul. He then converted the bonus free throw. Despite Flamengo's improvement, Minas remained consistent on offense, maintaining their lead. Flamengo managed to close the gap and went into halftime trailing 53-42. 

3st Bedroom

After the break, the game continued with the same pattern as the first half: the Flamengo team trying to close the gap on the scoreboard, but still making many mistakes in their shots, while Minas took advantage of their good moment, continued scoring and maintained a good lead. To try to boost the team's morale, Cummings hit a three-pointer. However, the Minas team closed the quarter winning 74-54. 

4st Bedroom

In the final quarter, Minas maintained control of the game, preventing Flamengo from mounting a comeback. In the second half of the period, the Flamengo team staged an impressive comeback, managing to cut the deficit to eight points with two minutes remaining. Despite improving in the final stretch, Flamengo couldn't secure the victory and ultimately lost 93-80. With this result, FlaBasquete was eliminated from the Super 8 Cup, where they were aiming for their third consecutive championship. 

Next challenge

The Pride of the Nation returns to the court on February 4th to face Pato Basquete at 19:30 PM at the SESI Pato Branco gymnasium, for the 28th round of the NBB.
