The game
Matheusinho, Camargo, Rachel, Ruan, and Emanuel formed the starting five for the match, which began fiercely, but with Minas taking the lead. Flamengo's possession wasn't falling in the opening minutes, but after Matheus Leoni's strong playmaking and the youngster's excellent shooting, the team closed the gap with a Ruan Miranda pass (11-13). Minas had the last shot of the quarter, and they closed the period with a 15-11 lead.
The second quarter was completely different from the first. The first points came from a three-pointer by Lucas, who came out inspired. Then, a point and foul on Matheusinho sparked a lot of excitement from the point guard and his teammates, and the team had renewed energy for the following minutes. At the free throw line, with halfway through the quarter remaining, Emanuel tied the score with two successful shots: 23-23. Another three-pointer by Lucas put Mengão ahead for the first time in the match, and at that moment, it was Minas Gerais that stopped the ball from falling. Minas Gerais went into halftime leading 30-26.
The third quarter started off quite competitive, but as the game progressed, Minas opened up a big lead in the quarter, thanks to shots from winger Gui Santos, who defended the opponent's professional team and scored 17 of the 20 points attempted in the period.
The final quarter was a test for the heart. With Minas leading 56-39, Flamengo, with a vengeance, managed to impose its game and close the gap to just three points with two minutes remaining. A beautiful block by Ruan reignited the team, and with a three-pointer by Rachel and a dunk by Lucas, Flamengo took the lead with 45 seconds remaining: 63-62. Minas took the lead once again (63-64), but Matheusinho went to the free-throw line, made a shot, and missed another: the decision was left for overtime.
In overtime, the opponent opened up a four-point lead with 16 seconds remaining. Leoni pulled one back to 72-74 with 10 seconds remaining, but Minas extended their lead with free throws and secured the victory.
