It wasn't to be for Flamengo Basketball. The team was defeated by Nacional (URU) 94-65 this Saturday in Buenos Aires, finishing fourth in the BCLA. The team, coached by Sergio Oveja Hernandez, was coming off a loss, having fallen to Boca Juniors (ARG) in the semifinals.

Flamengo was dominated by Nacional from the start of the game. They lost the first quarter 23-16, the second quarter 31-10, and the third 22-17. The Rubro-Negro only won the final quarter, 22-18.

Shaq Johnson was the standout player and top scorer for Flamengo in the game with 15 points. Erik Thomas, from Nacional, was the game's top scorer with 20 points.

It's worth noting that Flamengo was the reigning champion. Last year, they won the title at the Maracanãzinho arena, defeating Franca in the semi-final and Boca Juniors in the final.

FlaBasquete is now refocusing on the NBB. Playoffs start this week.
