Flamengo welcomes Niterói to the Hélio Maurício Gymnasium

The match will be the first with the Nation's presence this season

We're heading home. This Tuesday (21), at 20pm, Flamengo hosts Niterói Basquete at the Hélio Maurício gymnasium, in Gávea, for the second round of the Campeonato Carioca. The match will be the first with Flamengo in charge and the meeting of the Pride of the Nation with its fans.

In the first round of the State Championship, Flamengo defeated Botafogo 67-57 at General Severiano, kicking off the tournament on the right foot. Looking to take the lead, Flamengo will be aiming for a second straight victory.

ABIG/Niterói Basquete Clube begins its journey in the Carioca Championship and is a newcomer to the tournament. The team boasts veterans such as Luiz Otávio Guimarães, known as Mingau, as coach, and point guard Danielzinho, both world champions with Flamengo. They also feature shooting guard Gabriel Andrade and center Douglas Sales, both LDB champions with Flamengo. The team has been in existence since 2013 and turned professional last year.

The team played a tough game against Vasco da Gama in the State Championship debut, losing 62 to 53.

Dispute format
The tournament will be played in two-legged matches, with all teams facing each other at home and away. The semifinals will then be a best-of-three series, with the first-place team facing the fourth-place team and the second-place team facing the third-place team. The final begins on September 25th and will also be played over a maximum of three matches.
