The Pride of the Nation faces the green-and-white team looking to get back to winning ways. After returning from Minas Gerais, Flabasquete is looking for its fourth victory in the competition to climb the table. The Red-and-Black team currently sits fourth in the NBB7 standings, with three wins in five matches. Palmeiras, with a game in hand, sits in tenth place with three wins and the same number of losses.

Last season of the national competition, Flamengo and the São Paulo team faced each other twice, and the Pride of the Nation emerged victorious on both occasions, with scores of 84-71 and 84-76. Despite the losses in the 2013/2014 season, the Palmeiras team that takes the court tonight has reinforcements and promises to put up a tough game against the Rubro-Negro. "We expect a tough match, as has been the case throughout the championship. Both teams have been getting much stronger, so we expect another tough game. On the other side, we'll face a Palmeiras team that has been improving in the championship, despite their last loss against Macaé, and has a very high turnover of players. This will demand a lot from our team, but we're well prepared. It was a very good week of training, where we worked to improve our defensive system. We hope to come away with a victory at home against a great opponent," said José Neto, Flamengo's coach.
