A desire to win and the support of the fans were the key ingredients in Flamengo's important victory over Palmeiras in the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) competition this Thursday (November 27.11). The match, held at the Tijuca Tênis Clube Gymnasium, featured everything a rivalry between the two teams can offer. Plenty of ball battles, intense excitement, and a crowd motivated to show they truly make a difference.

Despite starting behind, Orgulho da Nação, without coach Neto serving a suspension, soon showed what they were capable of. Marcelinho calmly scored points to close the gap and close in on the São Paulo team. But in a very even period, Palmeiras finished ahead by three points, 14 to 17 for the green and white team.

The second quarter arrived, and with a very feisty team, Flamengo took the lead. With Olivinha showing his trademark grit, Flamengo began attacking more, moving the ball around and pressuring the opponent's playmaking. The result: a 19-18 victory. Enough to fire up the fans in the gym.

After halftime, the Orgulho da Nação players donned commemorative jerseys honoring their World Cup title win in September and posed for an official photo. Cheered once again by the Flamengo fans in attendance, the team returned to the game even more motivated to win. In what was perhaps the best quarter of the match, Flabasquete demonstrated why they're world champions. With impeccable dedication and motivation, the team defeated Palmeiras 31-22.

In the final quarter, Flabasquete's fans chanted nonstop. Calling on the Pride of the Nation to "come after them," the sixth Flamengo player assured them of victory even before the game was over. With incredible final minutes, Flamengo's players regained victory, closing out the match 81-77.

Mais Querido's next challenge will be against Mogi das Cruzes, on December 10th, at the opponent's home.
