The dream of a third national title (second in the NBB – Novo Basquete Brasil) in the 2010/2011 season came to an end on Tuesday night (10.05) for Flamengo. The team was defeated by Franca 91 x 78, at Pedrocão, in Franca (SP), in the NBB semifinals. With the result, the São Paulo team closed the series 3 x 0 and the Rubro-negro ended its participation in the tournament in fourth place.

Even with the defeat, wing/point guard Marcelinho was the game's top scorer, with 27 points.

Without center Bábby, who suffered a subluxation in his right sacroiliac joint, Flamengo took the lead and opened up a 6-2 lead, but Franca prevailed in the first quarter, 25-12. In the second, the São Paulo team opened up a 13-point lead (33-20), but the Rubro-negro team tightened its defense and the lead dropped to four points (38-34). With a three-pointer in the final seconds, Franca went into halftime leading 41-34.

In the second half, Franca led by 18 points (63-45) and closed the third quarter at 70-56. The home team's three-pointers made the difference in the final quarter (they scored 18 in the entire game). With 33 seconds remaining, tempers flared and some players argued on the court. But the confusion was quickly controlled and Franca confirmed the victory: 91-78.

"Franca had a lot of merit today and played a great game. In the first two games we lost perhaps more due to our mistakes, but today, they (Franca) were better, especially in three-point shots," said Marcelinho.

Flamengo started with: Marcelinho (27), Hélio (11), Teague (15), Teichmann (2) and Átila (4). Entered: Jefferson (7), Duda (6), Wagner (6) and Fred (-).
