Flamengo hosts the first stage of the 2018 Basketball Development League
The competition will be held between September 10th and 14th at the Hélio Maurício gymnasium, in Gávea
By Communication - Flamengo - inThe 2018 Basketball Development League is coming! From September 10th to 14th, at the Hélio Maurício gymnasium in Gávea, Flamengo will compete in the LDB, the country's premier youth basketball competition. Hosting the first stage, Flamengo will face established national teams: Pinheiros, Paulistano, Minas Tênis Clube, Palmeiras, and União Corinthians (RS). FlaBasquete, champions of the tournament in 2011 and 2013, are looking to reach the top once again and represent the Rio de Janeiro youth team at the national level.

Led by coach Paulo Chupeta, the red-black squad will feature names that already play in the Mais Querido adult team, such as center João Vitor and point guard Matheusinho.

The Flamengo Regatas basketball teams receive funding from their sponsors – Thinkseg, TIM, AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, and EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR) and the State Incentive Law/Rio de Janeiro State Secretariat of Sports, Recreation, and Youth (Seelje), as well as support from the Brazilian Club Committee (CBC) through the decentralization of funds from the Pelé Law. The Flamengo Guardian Angel Project, a personal tax transfer, benefits all Olympic sports of the club.
