After the defeat to Brasília, last Wednesday (23.02), Flamengo will have another tough challenge ahead this Friday (25.02). The red-black team faces Pinheiros, at 20 pm, at the Henrique Vilaboim gym, in São Paulo, in a game valid for the seventh round of the return of the NBB (Novo Basquete Brasil).

Flamengo and Pinheiros have the same record in the competition. The teams are tied for third place in the overall standings, with 14 wins in 19 matches (73,68% success rate). First place is Brasília, with one game and one loss in hand, and second is Uberlândia, with five losses but one game more than Flamengo.

In the first-round head-to-head, the São Paulo team came out on top, winning 90-88 in Rio de Janeiro. Coach Gonzalo Garcia wasn't in charge of the team yet, but he already knew the match would be tough and issued a warning.

"We can't lose concentration, like we did in the game against Brasília, and we have to stick to our plan. That's basically it," said Gonzalo.

Power forward Jefferson, who returned to the team in the match against Brasília after more than a month out due to an adductor injury in his right thigh, is confident:

"Before we lost to Brasília, we were leading the NBB. It was a direct confrontation, but these things happen. They played at home and have a great team. Now we have the opportunity to beat Pinheiros and get back into the fight for first place," said Jefferson.
