Flamengo wins the second in the State Championship
Nation turns out in good numbers at Gávea and sees triumph over Macaé

Excited by the victory in the opening round of the State Basketball Championship, the Nation filled the Hélio Maurício Gymnasium, at the Gávea social headquarters, on Saturday night (October 05.10th), to support Flamengo against Macaé, in the second round of the competition. With fans and team playing together, the result could not have been different: a red-black triumph, 72 to 67, with Marquinhos being the Flamengo's top scorer with 14 points.
"The victory, which was very important, was more due to the determination of the players, as the season is still early. We expect to improve for the next round. Throughout this year, we will use the young players more, as they are more mature," said José Neto, the red-black coach.
Since the State Championship consists of only three teams, Flamengo finished the first round of the competition in first place, with a 100% record in two matches. Two more rounds will be played before the semifinals.
Thus, Flamengo's next challenge will be valid for the second round of the competition. On Thursday (10.10), at 19 pm, Mais Querido will face Campos at the opponent's home.
