Flamengo defeats Unifacisa 83-77 in their return to Maracanãzinho
Franco Balbi was the top scorer for the red-black team with 19 points
By Romulo Paranhos - inReturning to Maracanãzinho, FlaBasquete beat Unifacisa 83-77 on Tuesday night (28), in a match valid for NBB 12. Argentine Franco Balbi was the red-black team's top scorer in the match with 19 points.
The game
In the first quarter, Unifacisa started better and opened up a ten-point lead. Gradually, FlaBasquete managed to settle into their game and level the playing field. FlaBasquete responded to the Paraíba team's attacks with Marquinhos, the Gávea team's main weapon. Despite the red-and-black team's comeback, Unifacisa prevailed and closed the period ahead 18-22.
The Pride of the Nation came back stronger in the second quarter and, led by Leo Demetrio and Franco Balbi, sought a reaction and left the team just one point behind on the scoreboard: 36 to 37.
When the teams returned from halftime, FlaBasquete maintained the same pace and tied the game. Unifacisa also had a strong quarter, allowing both teams to alternate the lead. The Paraíba team's strong defense led to some attacking errors from the Red-Blacks. The period ended with Unifacisa ahead: 55-58.
Mengão came back strong in the final quarter, hitting two three-pointers from Leo Demetrio and Balbi, taking the lead again. The Pride of the Nation had the composure to value possession, rotating the game and looking for the best scoring opportunities. It's worth noting that, despite trailing for much of the game, the Mais Querido had the grit to come back and secure an 83-77 victory.
FlaBasquete returns to the court next Friday (31) to face Minas for NBB 12. The match will be held at the ASCEB gym, at 21:10 pm, in Brasília, with Rubro-Negro in charge.
