It couldn't have been any different. The HSBC Arena was packed, Duda Machado was inspired, and the red-and-black jersey was more imposing than ever. These were key ingredients in Flamengo's 88-76 victory over São José on Saturday night (May 25.05th) and securing its place in the grand final of the New Basketball Brazil. On June 1st, at 10 am, the Mais Querido will face Uberlândia in the competition's final, a single game, in Rio de Janeiro.

The highlight of Flamengo's great performance was the third quarter. The team entered the second half trailing 39-42, but with the players' determination and the inspiration of Duda Machado, who scored 13 points in this quarter alone, it was impossible for José Neto's team not to lead into the final ten minutes. As the clock expired, Marquinhos hit a beautiful three-point shot to make it 69-58 for the Mais Querido.

"In the third quarter, we came out with a lot of energy. Playing at home, it had to be that way. We kept up the pace because we knew that, at some point, São José wouldn't keep up with our rhythm. We ended up managing to open up a significant lead," said Duda Machado, who was the night's top scorer with 26 points.

In the final quarter, Flamengo held on to its advantage and secured the victory without being threatened by São José. When the game ended, the packed HSBC Arena crowd began singing the club's anthem, creating a hair-raising moment. The players, at center court, paid tribute to the fans and thanked them for their continued support.

The final between Flamengo and Uberlândia takes place next Saturday (May 25.05th) at the HSBC Arena. The champion of the competition will be decided after a single game, unlike the other playoff stages. Having had the best campaign in the first stage of the NBB, the Mais Querido has the right to play the final at home.

This will be Flamengo's third NBB final. In the 2009-10 season, the "Mais Querido" finished second. However, the previous season, the competition trophy remained in Rio de Janeiro. By defeating Brasília in the final, the team was crowned champion of the first edition of the New Basketball Brazil.
