Flamengo had to work hard to secure their eleventh victory in the sixth edition of the New Basketball Brazil (NBB). After all, Basquete Cearense took the match to the final seconds. Despite the struggle, the victory went to the "Mais Querido" (Most Beloved), who hosted the match at Tijuca Tênis Clube. With a score of 72 to 69, Flamengo remained in the lead after 14 games. With 19 points, forward Marcelinho was the top scorer on Monday night (January 13.01).

"We didn't play one of our best matches in the championship. However, at this stage of the competition, it's important to win even if we play poorly. We learn from our mistakes. We need to analyze what we did wrong and make corrections, but we had good moments too," said coach José Neto after the game.

Besides Marcelinho, center Cristiano Felicio also had a strong performance. He scored 12 points and missed only one shot on the night. "The opponent started out on top, defending well and hitting shots on offense. That gave them a lead, but in the second quarter, we came back with more focus and made up the difference. Fortunately, we came away with the victory in this evenly matched match. I tried my best and had a good performance thanks to my teammates, who trusted me," said the red-and-black center.

The red-and-black point guards also finished the night with strong performances. Argentine Laprovittola scored 13 points and dished out seven assists. Gegê dished out nine assists, leading the game in that regard.

In the next round, leader Flamengo will face Uberlândia. The match will be held on Thursday (16.01), at 20 pm, at the Sabiazinho Gymnasium, in Minas Gerais.
