In their first challenge after the South American League, Flamengo defeated Franca, 82 x 77, at the Pedrocão gymnasium, in Franca (SP), in their second match in the NBB. The team is undefeated in the competition and returns to the court on Thursday (13.12), against Brasília, at 21 pm, at Tijuca Tênis Clube. The match will be the 1.000th of the national tournament, created in 2008/2009.

After starting badly and ending the first quarter behind (15 x 21), Flamengo recovered in the second quarter, with a great performance by Vitor Benite – who scored 14 points –, and went into the break winning by 37 x 31. In the third quarter, Rubro-negro remained in the lead, and won the quarter by 60 x 56. The advantage reached 10 points in the last quarter (71 x 61) and the Rio de Janeiro team only needed to manage it until the end: 82 x 77.

Vitor Benite led all scorers with 21 points. Olivinha also stood out, scoring 17 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

"It was a very important victory for Flamengo. We knew the quality of our opponent, who had won four games in a row, and we managed to maintain our rhythm in defense and on the counterattack," said point guard Gegê.

Flamengo started with: Kojo (4), Vitor Benite (21), Marquinhos (15), Olivinha (17) and Caio Tores (15). Entered: Duda (-), Shilton (1) and Gegê (9).

Marcelinho
Flamengo captain Marcelinho Machado will undergo arthroscopy this Tuesday morning (11.12/24.11) in Rio de Janeiro. The procedure will reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament in the player's right knee and will be led by Dr. José Luiz Runco's team. Marcelinho suffered the injury in the team's first NBB game, on XNUMX/XNUMX, against Vila Velha.
