As is customary, Flamengo and Mogi das Cruzes played one of those thrilling matches. The confrontation, which marked the semifinals of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) 2013/2014, brought excitement to the court in the interior of São Paulo, with two teams tied for third place in this edition of the championship, desperately seeking victory. But, in the end, Flamengo's grit and experience gave Flabasquete their fifth victory in NBB 7.

The first quarter of the game made it clear that the Pride of the Nation would not have an easy time tonight. Urged on by their fans, the Mogi das Cruzes team came out strong against the reigning national champions. Despite good baskets from Marcelinho and an extremely determined Nico Laprovittola, stealing balls and distributing the ball well, Flabasquete was no match for the São Paulo team, who closed the quarter at 28-18.

The break between halves allowed Flamengo's coach, José Neto, to reorganize the team and get them to react in the game. Showing that Flamengo doesn't just have five starters, but a squad, Neto opted to substitute some players, which brought new energy to the match. With Gegê and Olivinha, the team started attacking more, and finished the second quarter with a 28-22 lead.

Still trailing in the overall score, losing 50-46, the Pride of the Nation didn't give up on overtaking the Mogi team. Meyinsse and Olivinha stood out for their characteristic fighting spirit, battling for every ball as if it were the last of the game. Despite the crowd cheering on the home team, the noise wasn't enough to prevent the red-and-black victory in another quarter, closing the period at 18-16.

With a two-point lead, the São Paulo team went all out. But Mogi das Cruzes hadn't counted on experience prevailing in decisive moments. Amidst a festival of dunks and dribbles, the class of Marcelinho's and, especially, Marquinhos' three-pointers made the difference. Reaching 18 converted three-point shots, Flamengo won another away game in the competition, with all the ingredients of a great match. Final score: 96 to 91.
