Flamengo defeats União Corinthians-RS and advances to the quarterfinals of the CBI U-18

Rubro-Negro builds the result before halftime, closes the game well and moves on to the next stage focused on being champions

Flamengo finished the first stage of the Brazilian Under-18 Interclub Championship with a 100% record. In the final round, held on Wednesday afternoon, the team defeated União Corinthians-RS 85-43 at the Tijuca Tennis Club gymnasium.

With a strong performance, the team led by Rodrigo Galego knew how to control the game in the most difficult moments, took off after the second quarter and triumphed comfortably.

The coach analyzed the match and made projections:

"It was a good victory in this last game of the qualifying phase against a team that, despite not having a tall center, is feisty, attacks the basket, and wears down our defense. The boys performed well, and from now on, our minds are focused on the quarterfinals. It's a new championship, and we're confident. We'll qualify among the top teams, and we want to do well. Our focus is the title."

Magno Faria (17 points), Matheus Macaé (16 points) and Gabriel Andrade (12 points) were the standouts. In the view of the winger, the leading scorer, the team's composure made the difference:

"We had a good performance and got a great win. Despite the tight game, we played calmly. Now, we're going all out in the next round."

Having qualified for the quarterfinals, Rubro-Negro will now face Sport, next Thursday (22), at 16:45 pm, in Tijuca.
