The culmination of a perfect campaign came this Saturday morning (June 01.06) at the HSBC Arena. Flamengo defeated Uberlândia 77-70 and won the Novo Basquete Brasil title for the second time. A crowd of 16.634 saw the team that had the best campaign in the first phase lift the most coveted trophy in the country.

With a spectacular dunk by Flamengo's Marquinhos, the game began for Flamengo. And it wasn't just the start that was devastating. Flamengo, with Bruno Zanotti replacing the injured Benite, had an excellent first quarter. The team opened up a ten-point lead over Uberlândia and finished the first ten minutes of the game leading 21-15.

The second quarter wasn't as good for Flamengo. The team wasn't hitting three-point shots and ended up letting their opponents close the gap. The fans did their part, singing loudly and cheering, but the game was tight, and neither team could open a significant lead. When the clock ran out, Uberlândia was leading by just one point: 34-33.

Flamengo's first three-pointers didn't fall until the third quarter. Kojo, Olivinha, Bruno Zanotti, and Duda Machado each hit a long-range shot. These accurate shots were crucial for Flamengo to regain the lead.

Since Flamengo finished the third quarter ahead, 58-49, the team only managed to maintain its advantage in the final period. This doesn't mean, however, that the final part of the match was uneventful. Uberlândia never gave up and fully appreciated the red-and-black victory. To the nation's chants of "We're champions," the clock ran out, and Flamengo won its second NBB championship.

After the match against Uberlândia, the Flamengo players made a point of praising the team's dedication during the Novo Basquete Brasil competition. After all, talent alone isn't necessary for a team to win a championship. It also requires hard work, and Flamengo's basketball team showed no shortage of that throughout the last season.

"Without a doubt, this is one of the most memorable moments of my career. We worked so hard throughout the season. No one worked harder than us. Congratulations to everyone, especially the fans, who always supported us. I'm very happy and now I'm going to celebrate a lot," said Olivinha.

Benite was a symbol of the team's determination. He missed the final due to a right thigh injury, but he dedicated himself until the last moment to be fit to play. With the gold medal already on his chest, he recalled the difficulties the team faced.

"The determination was there from the beginning. In the preseason and in training, we always resolved our problems among ourselves. All this determination brought the title to crown this wonderful year," said the shooting guard.

While Benite only missed the final, Marcelinho had to watch the entire season from the stands. He was injured in the first match of the championship and has yet to play again.

"The emotion is different. It's very gratifying when my teammates hug me and dedicate the title to me. That's priceless. The team really deserved it. Everyone has the Flamengo image and gave a lot of themselves. We deserved to win," said Marcelinho.
