Almost there! With a strong presence of Mengão fans at the Tijuca Gymnasium, Flamengo defeated Corinthians, 79-60, in the second game of the quarterfinal playoffs of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB), on Wednesday night (17). With a 2-0 lead in the series, Rubro-Negro is one victory away from its rival to advance to the next stage of the competition.

Marquinhos, with 15 points, was Mengão's top scorer in the match. Another standout was Argentine Franco Balbi, who had four rebounds and 4 points. Flamengo started the first quarter struggling, trailing seven points, but overcame Corinthians and controlled the game from the second quarter onward. 

Next Saturday (20), Flamengo will face Corinthians again, at 14 pm, at Ginásio do Tijuca.
