Flamengo returns to the courts for the State Championship
The team faces Macaé, this Friday, in the second round of the return leg
By Media Relations - inAfter securing a spot in the final hexagonal of the South American Club League in Santiago del Estero, Argentina, Flamengo returns to the court this Friday night (November 05.11th) for the State Championship. Undefeated in the competition, the team faces Macaé at 20:30 pm at the Municipal Club Gymnasium, for the second round of the return leg.
\Flamengo will be missing three players for the match. Shooting guard Duda, who suffered a sprained right ankle in the first game of the South American League, will be out for four to five weeks. Power forward Jefferson is still recovering from a grade 2 injury to his right thigh adductor, also suffered in Argentina. Finally, forward Teichmann, with a left leg injury, will only return to the court next Monday (November 08.11th).
\Juniors Guilherme and Ricardo and youth player Marcelão were called up by coach Paulo Chupeta for the match.
\In pursuit of their sixth consecutive state championship, Flamengo has racked up six wins in the competition. In the first round, Flamengo defeated Macaé 99-80 away from home. Despite the 19-point difference, the match was one of the most evenly matched so far.
\The State Championship games are serving as preparation for the NBB (Brazilian National Basketball League) and the final hexagonal stage of the South American League, from November 24th to 28th. Flamengo's NBB debut is on November 14.11th, against Cetaf/Vila Velha, in Rio.
