By Flamengo Communication - inFlaBasquete suffered a setback against Unifacisa on Sunday night (27) in the NBB. Away from home, Rubro-Negro ended up being beaten 74 to 60 at Arena Unifacisa. Brandon Robinson was Flamengo's top scorer, with 11 points, followed by Túlio da Silva and Faverani, with 10 points each. The team returns to the court on Tuesday (29), at 20 pm, against Fortaleza Basquete Cearense, with broadcast by ESPN.
The game:
Faverani opened the scoring for Mengão, and shortly after, a rebound from the center set up a counterattack that ended with a 3-pointer by Lucas Martinez (5-0). Encouraged by the crowd, the Unifacisa team went on a run, scoring six straight points, taking the lead. With four minutes remaining, Brandon Robinson converted from outside the paint and then from mid-range, putting Mais Querido up 10-6. Franco Balbi was fouled, scored two more, and Robinson got another from distance (15-6). The Argentine also converted a three-pointer before the clock expired (18-11).
Túlio da Silva turned and scored for Mengão early in the second quarter. Unifacisa fought back and closed the gap to three points, but a dunk by Faverani—with an assist from Yago Mateus—and a basket by Brandon Robinson from the dead zone put Mengão back in a good lead (25-16). Faverani converted a free throw and, on another play, grabbed the offensive rebound and secured two points (28-24). A dunk and a free throw by Gerson put Unifacisa within 28-27. Túlio stole the ball and, following a counterattack, was fouled (30-27). The teams went into halftime with the score at 30-29.
The home team returned to the match with a 31-35 lead for the first time. "Monstrinho" (Little Monster) appeared and, from outside the paint, closed the gap (34-35), but the opponent opened up again and, at 44-35, forced coach Gustavo De Conti to stop the game. Franco Balbi's shot slid in, and FlaBasquete reached 38 points. Rafael Mineiro, with a layup, reduced Unifacisa's lead again (40-48). The power forward scored three more, followed by Olivinha, and the third quarter ended 45-51.
Faverani converted and was fouled on the first point for Mengão in the fourth quarter (48-53). Túlio da Silva scored two free throws and a three-pointer to lift the red-and-black fans at Arena Unifacisa and put the Mais Querido close to their opponents (53-54). The home team opened up again, and FlaBasquete kept pushing, with a three-pointer from Olivinha, which made it 57-61. Rafael Mineiro also scored from distance with 50 seconds remaining (60-66), but Unifacisa scored again and closed the match at 74-60.
