In the last round of the first phase of the New Basketball Brazil (NBB), Flamengo was defeated by Franca by 83 to 70 on Monday night (10), at the Pedrocão gym. Now, Rubro-Negro awaits its opponent in the quarterfinals of the competition.
The game
Already qualified for the quarterfinals, FlaBasquete scored its first two points of the match with Gabriel Jaú. Penka Aguirre then worked well on the boards, adding two more. Meanwhile, the Franca team also capitalized on their attacks to score, taking the lead. At a key moment in the quarter, Gui Deodato shot from the perimeter and the ball went in. On the court, Luke Martinez also hit a three-pointer. The São Paulo team remained consistent in the match and closed the first period ahead: 30-14.
Early in the second quarter, Fischer attempted a three-pointer, but the ball fell. They opened up space for our sniper Luke Martinez, and he hit another three-pointer. The red-and-black team's performance increased, closing the gap to nine points. Flamengo's strong defensive play stood out, leaving Franca with little room on offense. Fischer provided a great assist to Hettsheimeir, who scored his first two points of the game. The second quarter ended with 12 points for França, 46-34.
After halftime, Hettsheimeir hit a crucial three-pointer. The Pride of the Nation came back strong and reduced the deficit to eight points. But Franca continued to score on offense, preventing the red-and-black team from getting too close. In the final minutes, the game was back-and-forth, with both teams scoring. The home team's lead was 11 points: 66-55.
In the last quarter, Franca maintained the pace and did not allow Flamengo to react and ended up winning 83 to 70.
Rubro-Negro finished the qualifying phase with the second-best record. As a result, Gustavo De Conti's team is already automatically qualified for the NBB quarterfinals.

The Pride of the Nation returns to the court next Friday (14) to face Minas, at 17:30 pm, at the Pedrocão gym, for the Final Four of the Basketball Champions League Americas.
