Away from home, FlaBasquete loses to Pinheiros in the NBB

By Paulo Neto* - inAt the end of the afternoon this Saturday (16), Flamengo lost to Pinheiros by 92 to 80, at the Henrique Villaboim Gymnasium, in São Paulo, in the final stretch of the classification phase of the New Basketball Brazil (NBB).
The red-blacks' highlights in the match were Luke Martinez, Flamengo's top scorer in the game, with 17 points and Yago, with 16 points, nine assists and five rebounds.
The game
The match began with both teams struggling offensively. Faverani scored Mais Querido's first five points of the game. In the final stretch of the first quarter, Luke Martinez hit a three-pointer. On the final shot of the period, Rafael Mineiro hit a shot to bring Mais Querido closer on the scoreboard. The first half ended 17-16 for the opposing team.
Luke Martinez opened the second quarter with another long-range shot. Following that, Túlio da Silva showed off his skill with a beautiful layup. Faverani took advantage of the red-and-black attack's movement to hit a free-range shot from the perimeter. In the final stretch of the quarter, the opposing team had a good run and eventually opened up a large lead. Rafael Mineiro, with a three-pointer, Túlio da Silva, with a dunk, and Luke Martinez, with another long-range shot, managed to reduce the deficit, but the game went into halftime with Pinheiros up 47-36.
Yago's mid-range shot and Dar Tucker's two-pointer and foul scored the Mais Querido's first points of the third quarter. Luke Martinez continued his finesse, hitting his fourth three-pointer of the game. Balbi and Yago hit long-range shots late in the quarter to keep Flamengo in the game, but the final minutes saw a high level of efficiency from the opponent, who controlled the result and ended up winning 92 to 80.
