Away from home, FlaBasquete beats Instituto and opens up an advantage in the Champions League playoffs
Pride of the Nation scores 63 to 54 and will decide the classification at Maracanãzinho
By Romulo Paranhos - inIn the first match of the Basketball Champions League semifinals, FlaBasquete took the lead and beat Instituto de Córdoba 63-54, in a duel played on Monday night (09) at the Angel Sandrin gymnasium, in Argentina. The red-black team's top scorer in the match was Olivinha with 20 points. With the result, the Pride of the Nation is one victory away from the grand final of the competition.

The game
The first quarter started evenly, with Mengão leading the scoreboard. Marquinhos showed his calibrated hand, converting three consecutive three-pointers, increasing the red-and-black advantage and closing the period at 24-17.
FlaBasquete returned for the second quarter playing well defensively, preventing some of Instituto's penetrating plays. On offense, the red-and-black team made some mistakes and missed opportunities to increase their lead. Marquinhos continued to excel in the match with 14 points. At the end of the quarter, the collective effort paid off, and the Mais Querido scored again with three-pointers through Olivinha, finishing ahead 35-28.
Early in the third quarter, Jhonatan Luz scored another three-pointer for Mengão. Olivinha also hit another shot from behind the three-point line. Instituto tried to organize its attack but missed many shots. Excellent on the offensive end, Flamengo had the patience to work its plays, successfully scoring most of its baskets. The period ended with a clear 53-36 lead for the red-and-blacks.
In the final quarter, Flamengo maintained the same intensity, giving the Argentine team no chance to mount a comeback. Coach Gustavo de Conti's men controlled the momentum throughout the match, which Flamengo largely dominated. Olivinha, who excelled in the game, scored 20 points and was the top scorer in the match, which ended in a 63-54 victory for Flamengo.
