After leading the scoreboard for almost the entire game, Flamengo let victory slip away in the final quarter of their match against Franca this Sunday (08.05). At the Pedrocão gymnasium in Franca (SP), the Rubro-negro team was defeated by the home team 94-86 in the second game of the best-of-five semifinals of the NBB (Novo Basquete Brasil). With the result, the São Paulo team opened up a 2-0 lead in the series. Now, Flamengo needs to win next Tuesday (10.05), at 21 pm, again at Pedrocão, to stay in the fight for the title.

With a great performance, Marcelinho was the top scorer of the match, with 40 points (17 in the first half).

Flamengo started with a change in relation to the last games: Átila in place of Bábby, who suffered a lumbar contracture in the first game of the quarterfinals, against Bauru, on April 24.04th (since then, Wagner had been the substitute). With a strong defense, the red-black team dominated the entire first half, closing the first quarter at 27 x 19 and going into the break winning by 43 x 38.

At the start of the third quarter, Flamengo opened up a 10-point lead (48-38), but Franca scored 11 straight points and took the lead: 48-49. For a short time. Flamengo soon retook the lead (56-49) and closed the quarter at 62-58. In the final quarter, Franca turned the game around to 67-65 and took control. Flamengo managed to get closer in the final seconds (86-83), but the home team ended up prevailing: 94-86.
