Gávea hosts stage of the LDB
With the support of the red-black fans, Flamengo takes to the court with the aim of maintaining its unbeaten run in the competition.

Located at the Gávea headquarters, the Hélio Maurício Gymnasium will host all matches in the third stage of the qualifying round of the Basketball Development League (LDB). From August 28th to September 1st, 25 matches will be played, with free admission and subject to seating capacity. The LDB is Brazil's premier youth basketball competition for athletes up to 22 years old.
Paulo Chupeta, coach of the Rubro-Negro, commented on the importance of the club hosting these games. "It's crucial, firstly, from a technical perspective, as future Brazilian basketball players will be here. Furthermore, it shows that Flamengo is on the path to great achievements. The Olympic sports department and the club as a whole are restructuring so that Flamengo will always be respected on the national stage," he said.
The "Mais Querido" will play five matches at the gym, and the stands are expected to be full for all of them. For Paulo Chupeta, the "Nação" will be an extra player for his team.
"Certainly, at our games, Gávea will be full of Flamengo fans. The fans make the difference. This has happened in every title I've won with Flamengo. The fans' presence will certainly be a determining factor in us maintaining our unbeaten run," he stated.
Flamengo is the only team to have won every LDB match after 14 rounds. Therefore, it leads the competition, two points ahead of Minas. In the matches to be played at Gávea, each victory will be worth four points, which makes the coach dream of opening an even greater lead over his competitors.
"We're coming here very cautiously and focused, because Flamengo is the team to beat. We're going to face strong clubs like Minas and Ginástico. It's important to win all five games to get another twenty points in the overall standings," he said.
