Gegê takes former teammates on a visit to Fla Experience
FlaBasquete's point guard enjoys an exhibition with friends he met while visiting Spain

Flamengo is a hugely important sporting club, not only in Brazil but also globally. With national and international titles across various disciplines and sports, Flamengo boasts a rich and successful history. Point guard Gegê is part of this story. Three-time NBB champion, League of the Americas champion, and World Cup champion, he's part of a basketball team that has reached the top several times. And this Wednesday (July 29.07), he decided to share his Flamengo past with his friends.
Javier and Nacho, also basketball players, were Gegê's teammates when he played in Spain. The FlaBasquete player says his friends' involvement with the Mais Querido began when they lived in the European country. "I think it was great to bring them here because when I arrived in Spain, they gave me great support. We know how difficult it is when someone goes to play in another country, with a different culture... And they gave me a lot of support; it was a great learning experience. Besides learning, I made great friends. When they arrived in Brazil, they said they wanted to visit Flamengo, because when I lived there, I talked a lot about the club to them," he says. The number 19 recalled an interesting anecdote. "I watched the 2009 Brazilian championship at one of their houses and was able to show them the winning goal here at the exhibition; they remembered I was there," he revealed.
For the point guard, the visit was fruitful. "I brought them here, showed them the whole club, Gávea, I showed them the Fla Experience "They wanted to learn about the history, not only of soccer but also of basketball, which they play. It was a great pleasure for them," he says. He also praised the space. "The history is very well represented in the exhibition, and being part of it is essential for me, a Flamengo fan. It's a feeling that I always want to achieve more, to make a lasting impression and show it to my friends and family in a few years," he projected.
And helping Gegê with his "red-black" lesson was former FlaBasquete player Fred Duarte. The power forward played for the "Mais Querido" until 2012, when he moved to the United States. He was recently named Athlete of the Year in the conference he played for with Rogers State University.
During the visit, he happily recalled his time at Flamengo. "It's really cool. It's been three years since I left Flamengo, but it's really cool to come back and introduce Flamengo to the outside world. It's great to be here with Gegê and experience all this again, to see basketball growing more and more," he said. Fla Experience It reflects Flamengo's history well, and it's really cool to experience it. It has the locker room, everything explained about the history, the eras... It's really cool and very informative for anyone who wants to know more about the club," he concluded.
