Goiânia could be the stage for the NBB final
If the decision comes down to the fifth match, Flamengo and Brasília will likely play in the capital of Goiás.

The National Basketball League (LNB) issued a statement early Wednesday morning regarding the chaos at the end of game three of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) final last Sunday. Brasilia fans invaded the Nilson Nelson Gymnasium court and attacked Flamengo players. League president Kouros Monadjemi warned that he would take strict measures to prevent a repeat of the incident.
And indeed they did: they took away Brasília's home court advantage for the fifth game of the finals. The match will only take place if Flamengo beats the capital team in game four, Thursday, at the HSBC Arena. If Brasília prevails, they'll take the title. If Flamengo prevails, the final will be in Goiânia. The city has two sports venues that could host this match: Goiânia Arena and Ginásio Rio Vermelho.
Also this Wednesday, the LNB will contact the Government of Goiás to finalize the details for the event.
"Today, a representative from the League will travel to Goiânia to inspect and determine which of the gyms has the best infrastructure to host a match at the level of a national championship final," said Monadjemi, who revealed that the city of Anápolis, Goiás, had also been considered as a possible host. However, the floor at the Nilton Faria Gymnasium is made of rubber and is not considered suitable for a basketball game.
The decision pleased the two finalist teams, who were consulted after the LNB Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday.
"The reason I didn't announce this before was because I wanted to talk to the two club presidents. I informed Patrícia (Amorim, from Flamengo) and Wellington (Salgado, from Universo) of the decision and they both understood and accepted it," revealed the LNB president.
This is the third consecutive time that Flamengo and Brasília have decided the National Basketball Championship. In 2008 and 2009, the team from Gávea prevailed.
