Flamengo learned its opponent in the NBB semifinals this Sunday (2). Starting on May 10, Rubro-Negro faces Paulistano in a best-of-five series, all played at the Maracanãzinho gymnasium. The São Paulo team beat Bauru in the third and final match of the quarterfinals.

Champion of the NBB, the Super 8 Cup and the Champions League Americas for Mais Querido, coach Gustavo De Conti analyzed FlaBasquete's next challenge in the pursuit of the season's final objective, the seventh national championship. 

 

"Paulistano is a very tough opponent, for sure. They're a very deep team with a lot of options, practically 12 players who can play. They're a very physical, athletic team, very good on defense and rebounding, and when one player isn't playing well, another one will step up offensively. They're a very tough team for a long series, and then it gets even tougher, not to mention they're a very traditional club, having played in finals recently," explained Gustavinho. "We need to be very careful, play very close to or at our limit to be able to get through this series, which will undoubtedly be very compelling for those watching."

Flamengo and Paulistano faced each other in official matches twice in the 2020/21 season, with two victories for the Rubro-Negro. All matches valid for the NBB semifinals will be played at Maracanãzinho, home of Mais Querido, first place in the classification phase. The São Paulo team awaits the winner of the match between Minas and Franca, on Monday night (3), in the duel of the other group.
