Gustavo De Conti analyzes decision against AEK
Rubro-Negro coach comments on rival's decision to call a timeout to celebrate at the end

After the loss to AEK in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup final, coach Gustavo de Conti analyzed the match during a press conference. For the coach, the setback taught the team lessons, as they faced a different team than Flamengo is used to. The coach acknowledged the Greek team's merits but also praised his own team, which fought until the end but was ultimately defeated 86-70.
Check out the main topics of the press conference below.
Greeks' scheme
We struggled a lot offensively today. Their team played a very solid defense, and we didn't capitalize on the advantages we had, which was largely due to their merit. Defensively, I thought we did well for the most part.
Lessons from the match
We always learn from every match, win or lose. I believe we learn much more when we lose and take away several lessons. One of them is improving our offensive ability and speed. When we encountered a consistent defense in the paint like we do today, unlike what we find in Brazil. On the other side, there was a team with five or six high-level foreigners, and we knew we would face a high-quality team, with national team players.
Opponent's technical timeout at the end of the game
He wouldn't have the character or courage to do that. It was incredibly disrespectful to Flamengo. I feel ashamed for him. (With four seconds remaining, AEK coach Luca Banchi stopped the game and called the team president to celebrate on the bench, which sparked protests from the Flamengo team.)
Game analysis
We found little space, which is why we had so many passing errors. We need to improve tactically and make our attack faster. And this will help the players' individual performance.
