On Tuesday night (20), Flamengo lost to Instituto de Córdoba by 91 to 84 at Jeunesse Arena. The match was valid for the semifinal stage of the South American Basketball League. After the match, coach Gustavo De Conti and point guard Davi Rossetto spoke to the press about the clash.
"It was a good technical level. They were having an inspired day; no team scores 91 points on a bad day of easy shots. They had a lot of three-pointers that they knew how to knock down. Now it's time to get our heads in the game so those shots don't fall in the next game. We need to fix some things to win the next matches. We have to play the way we need to win," analyzed the point guard.
"The defense was very inconsistent and inattentive, conceding easy balls. These were different mistakes from the last game; we made more mistakes when the players were without the ball. Lack of attention, rotation, coverage. We need to find motivation. We coaches, players, and you in the press are experienced enough to know that in many quadrangular games, the team loses the first one and then reverses it. We've seen it happen. But now it's not just up to us. However, first and foremost, we need to do our part," Gustavinho added.
On Wednesday (21), at 19:15 pm, Mais Querido hosts Minas Tênis Clube, also at Jeunesse Arena, and needs to win to maintain its chances of qualifying for the finals. "We need to talk now, pay more attention, watch videos. We need more time to train, we haven't had a training session in 26 days. We did an activity yesterday and the day before that we couldn't do five-on-five due to physical issues. Things are happening more through conversations, more through examples. This is the schedule we have. Tomorrow we face a team that has a different characteristic, the defensive setup is different", assessed the red-black coach.
