Three wins in three games and the 100% success rate in the season remains untouchable. This Wednesday (24), Flamengo beat Welcome-URU 86-72 at Palácio Peñarol Montevideo and advanced in first place in Group D of the South American League. After the duel, point guard Franco Balbi (6 points and 5 assists) and coach Gustavo De Conti spoke about the positive result in Uruguay."The goal of winning three out of three games has been achieved. We started off poorly against Libertad, but we were able to turn things around and learn something to improve on the following days. We can't play like we did in the first half, but rather like we did in the other matches. International competitions are tougher and more competitive, so any challenge can knock you out of the tournament. We know we'll take what we learned here to the NBB. The team played very well on offense and defense at times. If we don't defend well, we can't win," Franco analyzed.
"The first objective is accomplished. We knew the physical aspect would be important, as they had few options for rotation and we had a lot of players to switch. We played with that a lot. We had a good first half and gained a significant lead. Now we'll study our next opponents. If I can take away anything from this to improve, it's our one-on-one defense, as we were doing well in the NBB and haven't achieved that yet. We were eager to have the ball in our hands and made a lot of mistakes. We made a lot of three-pointers and attempted several in all three games. We had a very high tempo, but we need to work on the balls more. The next stage will be very balanced and there are certainly no favorites," Gustavinho concluded.
