Gustavo De Conti is the new coach of FlaBasquete
Current NBB champion signs two-year contract

Flamengo announces Gustavo De Conti as the new coach of its professional basketball team for the 2018-2019 season. Gustavinho, as he is known, is 38 years old and has coached Paulistano since 2010, never missing the NBB playoffs. He holds the current title in the competition, as well as two runner-up finishes, in 2013-14 and 2016-17.
The professional commented on his arrival at the club and his expectations of coaching the greatest national basketball champion. "My family and I were very happy with Flamengo's invitation, for everything the club represents in Brazilian basketball and national sport, as well as the entire structure it provides. It's no wonder it has so many titles, such an important club in Brazil and the world. I achieved all my goals at Paulistano. I leave the team with a Brazilian title and a São Paulo title in the same season, something unprecedented there, and I'm going to Flamengo thinking about more titles. My ideas align with Flamengo's, which is to compete for titles and do excellent work," said the coach, who has signed a two-year contract.
Born in Tijuca, Gustavinho also celebrates his return to his hometown for his first job as a professional basketball coach.
"Living in Rio de Janeiro is a homecoming for me. I was born in Tijuca, but then I came to São Paulo when I was very young and I'm very happy to be returning to my hometown."
The new Pride of the Nation coach also has experience with the Brazilian national team. He joined the youth team in 2009 and served as an assistant coach with the main squad until the 2016 Rio Olympics. Gustavinho was the head coach of the Brazilian national team twice in South American competitions.
The Flamengo Regatas basketball teams receive funding from their sponsors – Thinkseg, TIM, AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, and EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR) and the State Incentive Law/Rio de Janeiro State Secretariat of Sports, Recreation, and Youth (Seelje), as well as support from the Brazilian Club Committee (CBC) through the decentralization of funds from the Pelé Law. The Flamengo Guardian Angel Project, a personal tax transfer, benefits all Olympic sports of the club.
