The champion coach stays! After three years at the helm of FlaBasquete, Gustavo De Conti has renewed his contract with the club for another season and wants to make the nation even prouder. The coach, who won every title he competed for last season—Carioca, Super 8, NBB, and Champions League—has the challenge of defending all these trophies and pursuing the FIBA Club World Cup in February 2022.

"I love working at Flamengo. The board provides a fantastic structure and conditions, the coaching staff is top-notch, and all of this makes the job much easier. The pressure for results is enormous, but at the same time, it's a crucial fuel for us to always be 100% at all times," celebrated the coach.

Gustavo De Conti is already looking ahead to next season and is waiting for the players to be finalized to define the team's playing style.

"Once we have the squad completely finalized, we'll analyze the characteristics and think more deeply about the playing style and tactics, but the idea is for it to be very similar to what we did last season. It's a path of no return; modern basketball demands it be like this: with a lot of intensity, a lot of speed, and a lot of defense," he explained.

With Mengão since 2018, Gustavinho is a three-time Rio de Janeiro state champion, two-time NBB champion, two-time Super 8 champion, and Champions League champion. In the penultimate season, he finished first in the NBB before the competition was prematurely terminated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Among his individual achievements, the coach was named Coach of the Year 2020/2021 by the National Basketball League (NBB). This was the fourth time he won the Ary Vidal Trophy in his career, his first as coach of Flamengo.

"It will be a huge challenge to repeat the season we just finished, but we've been at the top for three years now, always fighting for and winning important titles. I hope next season continues that trend, with the huge challenge of repeating our Intercontinental Cup triumph. We'll go for the second title with all our might," he concluded.

The technical committee for the next season continues with assistant coaches Fernando Pereira and Rodrigo Leonardo, physical trainers Bruno Nicolaci and Vinicius Lima and physiotherapist Ricardo Machado.

The basketball teams of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo rely on resources from their sponsors – BRB, MOSS, TIM, AmBev, Rede D'or, IRB Brasil RE, CSN, Brasil Plural, EY – via the Federal Incentive Law/Ministry of Sports (IR) and State Incentive Law/State Secretariat of Sports, Leisure and Youth (Seelje) of Rio de Janeiro, in addition to support from the Brazilian Club Committee (CBC).
