Already qualified for the State Basketball Championship finals, Flamengo achieved its objective and defeated Botafogo, 96 x 47, on Wednesday night (17.10), at Tijuca Tênis Clube, in the second round of the return leg of the State Basketball Championship. Next Friday (19.10), in the last round, the team faces Tijuca, at 20 pm, at the same venue. The opponent also has a spot assured. The final will be played in a best of three games, from November 5 to 9.

The State Championship is serving as preparation for the first phase of the South American League, from October 23 to 25, in Mar Del Plata (ARG), and for the NBB, starting in November. This Thursday (18.10), the team carries out the last training session before the trip to Argentina, Sunday (21.10).

In the match against Botafogo, Flamengo again had two absences. Center Caio Torres is recovering from a ligament injury in his left big toe and is expected to return to the court on Friday. Point guard Kojo suffered an abdominal strain earlier this week and is still undergoing treatment.

Despite already qualifying, Flamengo took the court at full strength and started with a bang, with Marcelinho hitting three three-pointers. The first quarter ended 31-12, and Flamengo led 47-29 at halftime. The third quarter ended 75-41, and Flamengo won the game 96-47. Marcelinho led all scorers with 28 points.

Flamengo started with: Benite (14), Marcelinho (28), Olivinha (11), Marquinhos (19) and Shilton (3). Entered: Duda (8), Gegê (3), Feliz (8), Diego (-), Alexandre (-), Chupeta (-) and Douglas (2).
