Jerome Meyinsse turns 26
Athlete of the Nation's Pride celebrates his second anniversary at the club
By Communication - Flamengo Official Website - inSince arriving in Brazil, and at Flamengo, Jerome Meyinsse has won over the fans. Wearing the number 55 for the Pride of the Nation, the American has always stood out for his drive and contagious energy. The center, who in just over a year won the 2013/2014 New Basketball Brazil Championship, the 2014 League of the Americas, and the all-important World Cup title, also in 2014, with the Gávea club, celebrates his 26th birthday this Thursday (12/18).
Of all Jerome's great moments at Flamengo, the most memorable was probably the NBB 6 final, where he was named MVP of the match against Brasília. After receiving the award, a visibly emotional Meyinsse dedicated the victory to his father, whom he had lost during the competition.
A lover of açaí, a Maracanã fan, and a frequent beachgoer, Jerome is possibly the most Carioca of Americans, and precisely because of this charisma, he has become one of Flabasquete's biggest idols. "I'm celebrating my second birthday here in Brazil. Unfortunately, once again, I won't be able to celebrate in Rio de Janeiro, but that's okay. The entire Nação Rubro-Negra is sending me congratulations, and I'm very happy to be remembered with such affection. I want to win the game against Basquete Cearense to make this day even more perfect and be able to celebrate a little," said the American.
Meyinsse is part of Flamengo's victorious basketball squad, whose youth teams are supported by the Red-Black Guardian Angel.
