Flamengo's basketball team beat Caxias do Sul this Thursday (30), at the Tijuca Tênis Clube gymnasium, in a match valid for the NBB. Closing the score at 79 to 69, Mais Querido remained ahead on the scoreboard throughout the game, with good performances from JP Batista, Marquinhos and João Vitor.
After the victory, coach José Neto was satisfied, but stressed that there is still a lot of room for improvement.
"It was an important victory, against an opponent that has a lot of momentum in the championship, playing very well, and I think we played well, enough to beat a team that's doing well in the competition. There's always room for improvement, and I think we have a lot of room to improve," says the manager.
Regarding JP Batista, the Rubro-Negro's top scorer for the second consecutive time, Neto confirms the pivot's importance to the team.
"From what we've trained, he's a very strong reference for the team and is taking advantage of it. Not only scoring, but he can also be a point guard on the court, distributing the play; he's a player who passes very well. The team is knowing how to use him very well," says the coach.
This was Flamengo's second victory in the NBB, the first at home. The Most Beloved takes to the court once again this Saturday (2), at 18 pm, at the Tijuca Tênis Clube gym, against Joinville (SC).
