Guaranteed to lead the NBB CAIXA 9 with one round to go, Flamengo will have just one more match before the playoffs. After the great victory against Minas by 108 to 74, on Wednesday night (29), at Tijuca Tênis Clube, coach José Neto commented on the classification phase, the squad and the duel against Brasília.
"There are no easy victories in this championship. It was largely due to the players' awareness of the need for this victory. We came prepared for it; they knew how important this result was for us to finish first in the qualifying phase and make everything that happened worthwhile. We want much more. We had this as a goal, but we still want more," analyzed the coach.
Neto also took the opportunity to praise the squad, which fought for first place during the championship: "Total merit of the players and their character. It's not just technique. They are skilled, but every team has talented athletes. If we achieved anything this season, which had a very difficult first phase, it was because of their character."
In the next round, Flamengo will have an important clash against Brasília. The Clássico dos Campeões, valid for the last round of the qualifying phase of the NBB CAIXA, is scheduled for Saturday (1), at 14 pm, at Arena Amadeu Teixeira, in Manaus.

"We have time to prepare for the game against Brasília, which we're going to win and do justice to Flamengo. All opponents are tough regardless of their previous results (Brasília is coming off a loss to Macaé), so we'll focus heavily on this tough opponent, who wants the same thing we do in the championship. I believe it will be a great game," concluded José Neto.
