Overcoming. This was the theme of former gymnast Lais Souza's meeting with the multi-champion FlaBasquete squad. Souza came to the Gávea headquarters on Thursday afternoon (April 02.04) to chat with the Orgulho da Nação athletes. She was also honored by the Flamengo basketball squad with an autographed official jersey. 

"Estácio, which sponsors me and Flamengo basketball, invited me to come and talk to the team. I came to offer words of comfort and to emphasize the importance of teamwork," said Lais. The former gymnast, born in Ribeirão Preto, said she has great affection for FlaBasquete: "We've trained together at the gym. I've developed a deep affection for the team," she said.

Lais, who suffered a serious skiing accident in January 2014, revealed that her clinical condition had improved: "In needle tests, the doctors detected muscle tissue in my biceps, deltoids, back and abdomen. It was a small improvement, but it was the news of the year for me," she said.
