By Mariana Sa - inFlamengo will have a major reinforcement for the match against Orlando Magic. Leandro Barbosa reported to Rubro-Negro this Tuesday (2) and started training with Gustavo De Conti's group. After the first training session, the winger spoke exclusively to FlaTV at the Barnett Park Rec Center gym, commenting on his arrival at Mais Querido.
"I came at the invitation of Flamengo with the opportunity to play in this preseason against the Orlando Magic. I thought it would be a good opportunity, since I've been out of action. I've already worn this jersey and told my family that it would be a pleasure to wear it again," he explained.

In 2011, Leandro was with Flamengo for a few months during a period without NBA games. Therefore, he already knows exactly what to expect when it comes to the beloved club. "It was a short period too, not like this one, but quick. I remember many people telling me what it would be like to wear the Sacred Mantle. The fans embraced me a lot and that marked my career. It's a good weight to wear this jersey and I'm very happy to have this opportunity again. I hope to do a good job on the court," Leandrinho exclaimed.
"The visibility of Brazilian basketball has changed tremendously. This has created more opportunities for us to leave the country and, for example, play a preseason game against the Orlando Magic. A few years ago, Flamengo also faced other teams. This is very good. We are being respected in many parts of the world, and I'm happy to know that our sport has improved," the forward praised.
Leandrinho is one of three athletes with NBA experience who will play in the game. Besides him, Marquinhos and Varejão also bring years of experience in American basketball. "We can instill confidence in the boys, show them how to play, how the league works, especially the rules. It's a different way of playing than in Brazil. But it's about doing what they know. Whatever we can do and help with, we will do to go back to Brazil with a victory," said the athlete.
Despite the short time with the group, the player wants to make the most of the experience. "Being here is good so that I don't stay idle for a long period. Now I'm back because of this opportunity. I want to do a good job so that everything goes well and we come away with a positive result," concluded Leandrinho.
FlaBasquete faces Orlando Magic next Friday (5), at 20 pm (Brasilia time), at the Amway Center. The match is valid for the NBA pre-season.
