By Flamengo Communication - inMengão's under-22 team secured another victory in the Basketball Development League (LDB) on Tuesday night (31), in Gávea. After a 90-50 victory over Brasília, the red-blacks beat Praia Clube, 68-44, at the Hélio Maurício gymnasium, which is hosting the second stage of the competition. Before the match, the opponent had the same campaign as Mais Querido in Group B: six games and three wins.
With six three-pointers, Lucas led all scorers with 20 points. Rafael Rachel achieved a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Matheusinho stood out with 10 points, six assists, six rebounds, and a +/- 30, a statistic that shows the difference in scoring while a player is on the court.
The game
With a starting five of Matheusinho, Camargo, Rafael Rachel, Ruan, and Emanuel, the Crias da Gávea team started the match with intense intensity on the court—and a vibrant bench. Giving their opponent no chance, the boys took a 24-10 lead in the first half.
In the second period, the red-and-blacks once again came out with great offensive vigor and dedication on defense, taking a 9-0 lead. Praia Clube's first points of the quarter came with the clock already five minutes away from halftime. The period ended with Flamengo leading 38-18, with great performances from Matheusinho, Ruan, and Rachel.
After a first half with Mais Querido far superior, the opponents returned to the court looking for a reaction and the last quarters were more balanced, but Mengão managed the large advantage well and won easily.

Flamengo has three more games to play in the second stage, which will be held in Gávea. Flamengo's next match will be against Unifacisa, this Wednesday, at 17:30 pm. Then, the Crias da Gávea team will face Minas Gerais on Friday at 19:45 pm, and Basquete Cearense on Saturday at 19:45 pm. These two matches will be broadcast live, with footage, on FlaTV. At the end of this stage, the top four teams from each group will advance to the final stage.
