Marcelinho dominates NBB awards
Flamengo star takes home four individual awards at party held this Tuesday at Pinheiros

In a ceremony held this Tuesday at Esporte Clube Pinheiros in São Paulo, the National Basketball League (LNB) honored the best players of the 09/10 NBB season. The championship closing ceremony was attended by athletes, former athletes, executives, and prominent figures, but the one who drew the most attention was Flamengo's forward, Marcelinho. Just like the previous year, the red-and-black star dominated the awards ceremony. He was the top scorer, the "Gallera" star, the best forward, along with Alex, of the Universe, and the best player.
With so many awards, Marcelinho couldn't hide his joy. A leader on the court, he made a point of remembering his teammates after confirming his reign at the Brazilian basketball festival.
"I am very happy with this recognition and these awards. I thank my team, because without them, this would not be possible," said Marcelinho shortly after receiving his fourth award of the night.
In addition to the trophies awarded by vote, the NBB's statistical highlights were also recognized. Flamengo's Marcelinho was the championship's top scorer; power forward/center Olivinha (Pinheiros/SKY) was the top rebounder; Argentina's Sucatzky was the leader in assists; Bauru was the Fairplay team (for the second consecutive year); Joinville was the Best Defense; and Universo was the competition's Best Offense team.
