Despite being a finalist in the New Basketball Brazil competition, Flamengo only had forward Marcelinho and coach Paulo Chupeta nominated for the championship's team of the year, best player, and coach of the 2009/2010 season. The election was conducted by the coaches of the 14 clubs that competed in the competition, along with some members of the specialized press. The LNB will also award the newcomer, the sixth man, the best defender, and the athlete who has improved the most this season.
