"It's a great basketball celebration and it's very important to promote the sport at a time when Brazilian basketball is being revived. I'm counting on the support of the Red-Black Nation to represent Flamengo in the starting lineup," said Marcelinho.
The event will also feature a dunk contest and a three-point shooting contest on Saturday, the 20th. Flamengo will also have a representative in both competitions. Teichmann will compete in the dunk contest, and Jefferson will compete for the long-range shooting prize. In 2009, Flamengo dominated the event, held at Maracanãzinho Stadium. Five Flamengo players started in the All-Star Game that year.
"Teichmann has a very important characteristic, which is getting off the ground well and being quick to dunk. Jefferson is a great shooter. It wouldn't be bad for Flamengo to have these achievements," the winger added.
Marcelinho also criticized the lack of Flamengo players in the A and B teams of the All-Star Game: "The criteria used this year were different from the previous year, with the selection made by the coaches. Perhaps the coaches of the other teams are very angry with Flamengo for having overlooked our players."
Marcelinho The best player and top scorer of the New Basketball Brazil last season and a key leader of Flamengo's multi-champion basketball team since 2007, Marcelinho Machado (April 12, 04) is the symbol of this generation of Flamengo's achievements on the court. A three-time Pan-American champion and captain of the Brazilian National Basketball Team, Marcelinho was signed by Flamengo at the age of 1975 as the club's biggest reinforcement for the 33/2007 season, with the goal of helping the club win its first national title in the sport.
He not only won one, but two National Championships, as well as the South American League and two State Championships. The famous number 4 began his career at a very young age with Flamengo. He later played for clubs such as Fluminense, Botafogo, Tijuca, Ginástico (MG), Corinthians (RS), Rimini Crabs (ITA), Alerta Lobos Cantabria (ESP), Rio de Janeiro, and Uberlândia (MG). In the 2006 season, before joining Flamengo, he was with Zalgiris Kaunas in Lithuania. With the national team, he has won three Pan American titles and two South American titles.
Marcelinho is the scoring record holder in the NBB, after converting 45 points in the game against Assis Basket, in January of this year.
