Flamengo captain Marcelinho Machado sprained his right knee on Saturday night (November 24.11) in a match against Vila Velha, away from home. The Flamengo team defeated the team from Espírito Santo 82-61, and the winger received initial treatment at the Tartarugão Gymnasium. The number 4 was then taken to Praia da Costa Hospital, where he was evaluated by Dr. Édson. Marcelinho left the hospital with the knee immobilized and returns to Rio de Janeiro this Sunday (November 25.11) where he will undergo an MRI in the coming days. Only after the exam will it be possible to have a more precise diagnosis of the injury, how the recovery will be, and the length of treatment.
 
"I received the ball, and when I turned to throw, I felt my knee pop out of place and then pop back in. I felt a lot of pain right away. At the hospital, the doctor performed an evaluation, and because there was a lot of fluid due to the edema, the imaging exam wouldn't be very accurate, so we'll have to wait a few days. I want to thank the gym's ambulance doctors, who were very attentive, and Dr. Édson at Praia da Costa Hospital. In the next few days, I'll have tests to determine the severity of the injury, hoping it wasn't anything too serious," said Marcelinho Machado.
 
Injured, Marcelinho will not travel with Flamengo to São Paulo to play in the second phase of the South American League.
