The average points per game fell a little, but Flamengo's winger, Marcelinho Machado, continues to be the top scorer in the NBB, a championship organized by the National Basketball League (LNB), in partnership with Rede Globo and sponsored by Eletrobrás and Spalding.

In the first edition of the NBB, Marcelinho scored 735 points in 28 qualifying matches, an average of 26,3. In the playoffs, he increased his points per game to 28,4 and was largely responsible for Flamengo's NBB title victory. This season, however, the red-and-black winger's scoring is slightly lower, but he continues to lead the championship in terms of scoring.

\

Marcelinho is the NBB's top scorer, averaging 24,5 points per game. So far, he's played in all six of Flamengo's games in the competition, scoring over 20 points on five occasions. Only in the victory over São José/Unimed/Vinac in the fifth round did the winger score just 15 points.

\

Of those 24,5 points per game, Marcelinho splits that score into 16% from 2 points (4,0), 59% from 3 points (14,5) and 24% from free throws (6,0).

Flamengo's captain also has the highest individual scoring record in a match this season of the NBB. In the Rio de Janeiro team's debut in the championship, the winger scored 39 points and helped his team defeat Vila Velha/Cetaf/Garoto/UVV/PMVV, 99-70.
