Marquinhos: "Consequence of good work"
Rubro-Negro winger talks about José Neto's strategy to overcome Bauru in the quarterfinals; the semifinals start on the 12th

Flamengo, who finished first in the qualifying round of the New Basketball Brazil (NBB), skipped the round of 16 and advanced directly to the quarterfinals. Their opponent was Bauru, who surprised Flamengo by winning the first match at Tijuca Tênis Clube. In the following matches, Flamengo won three matches on the road and secured a spot in the semifinals.
Winger Marquinhos was a standout in the series, with the highest average time on the court: 33 minutes per game, around seven minutes above the average for the qualifying phase.
"It was Neto's gamble for the series against Bauru. We wanted to try to neutralize their strengths, and one of them was Larry Taylor, a player who makes a huge difference on their team. This helped a lot, lowering their scoring average. I was able to help Flamengo in several offensive and defensive aspects, and it was a great series for us," he analyzed.
In addition to his time on the court, Marquinhos was the team's top scorer in the four games played in the quarterfinals, accumulating 64 points at the end of the series.
"Being the top scorer was a consequence of the plays the team made, looking for me a lot. And I also tried to help the team with what I do best: running the court, defending. It was all a consequence of good work."
The athlete guarantees that the team has no shortage of motivation, as they pursue their third NBB championship. Their next challenge will be on May 12th, at 19 pm, at Tijuca Tênis Clube, against the winner of Limeira vs. Mogi das Cruzes.
"Our motivation is to defend this title; we are the current Brazilian champions. The team is coming in very strong, we'll go in with a lot of enthusiasm," he concluded.
