Flamengo players Marquinhos and Benite have been called up to represent the Brazilian national team in the Copa América basketball tournament, which will be held in Venezuela from August 30 to September 11, and offers four spots for next year's World Cup. Flamengo coach José Neto will also participate in the competition. He is one of two assistants to Rubem Magnano, Brazil's coach.

"I'm very happy because representing Brazil is something everyone wants. I always get butterflies in my stomach waiting to be called up, even though I've been called up by Magnano for the last three years. Now it's time to continue working hard and represent the country well. I'm also happy to be representing Flamengo on the Brazilian national team," said winger Marquinhos.

The three red-and-blacks will report to the Brazilian National Team in São Paulo on the 18th. Before the Copa América, they will wear the yellow jersey on four occasions: the Super 4 Tournament in Argentina; the Challenge Game against Uruguay in São Carlos, São Paulo; the Super 4 Tournament in Anápolis, Goiás; and the Tuto Marchand Cup in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
