After the celebration on the court for Flamengo's fifth NBB CAIXA trophy - fourth in a row -, on Tuesday night (14) the individual highlights of the championship were awarded at a gala event organized by the National Basketball League (LNB). The red-blacks won all the awards they were nominated for.

A standout for the team season after season, Marquinhos took home the biggest prize of the night: he was named tournament MVP for the second time; the first was in the 2012/2013 season. With this achievement, the winger equaled captain Marcelinho Machado's achievement, and the two Rubro-Negro players are now the only players in NBB history to be named MVP in two editions.

"It was an incredible season. Our team started out losing several players, and many people saw us as the underdog. Because of that, we were able to add great players, build a new team, and these players really helped Flamengo have this great season. The MVP award is just part of that, a great group and a collective effort," said Marquinhos, who also won the Best Forward trophy.

Flamengo's most successful basketball player—and the record holder for most NBB titles, having lifted all five trophies—Marcelo Machado has this time earned a first for his team, which already boasts two Best Forward awards and two MVP awards. In a new role for José Neto's team, the experienced and technically gifted 41-year-old earned the title of Best Sixth Man in the competition.

"Being the sixth man gave me the opportunity to see the game from the outside and enter the court while the game is underway, which can be very beneficial at certain times. You see opportunities from the bench and by being focused you can take advantage of that," said Marcelinho, who stood out in Game 5 of the NBB finals with 26 points and six three-pointers.

Ultimately, the "Coach of the Year" award couldn't have gone to anyone else. José Neto, the current four-time NBB champion, won the Ary Vidal Trophy for the first time in his career, an award presented by SKY.

"I'm very happy to be named the best coach of the season. This trophy motivates me even more to continue on the path we're on. It's not easy, the championship gets stronger every year, but the results have been very satisfying, and achievements like this really mark our lives," said the red-and-black coach.
