One of FlaBasquete's most important players has renewed his contract for the 2017/18 season. Forward Marquinhos, the Mais Querido's top scorer in the NBB9, has been confirmed and will remain with the club for another two years.
Marquinhos has amassed a wealth of titles wearing the Sacred Mantle. He's a five-time Rio de Janeiro champion, a four-time Novo Basquete Brasil champion, and a champion of the League of the Americas and the World Cup. In terms of individual awards, the number 11 was named MVP in 2012/13, when he was the NBB's top scorer, and he's been to the All-Star Game five times, as well as being selected for the NBB National Team five times.
Last season, the winger appeared in 32 games, playing 992 minutes. He scored 599 points, grabbed 129 rebounds, 110 assists, and made 26 steals. He averaged 18.7 points per game, the sixth-highest in the NBB9.
"I'm so happy to have extended my contract for two years, to continue with the most successful team in Brazil. That's my dream, to resume this journey, win more international titles, put Flamengo back on that path and, who knows, seek another World Cup title. The goal is to form a successful team and stay at the club for a long time," commented the player.
In addition to Marquinhos, Ronald Ramon, JP Batista, Olivinha, Humberto and coach José Neto are confirmed for the next season of Pride of the Nation.
